Ryan Purbrick - Communications Assistant

My academic background is in psychology and criminology, I graduated from the University of Suffolk with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Criminology where my interests primarily focused on exploring the impact of childhood trauma and how it can influence criminal behaviour later in life, which really deepened my passion for understanding the connection between early experiences, mental health, and decision making.

Creating videos for social media is something I’ve always enjoyed doing, but I realised I wasn’t too shabby at it while I was at University and I became absolutely obsessed with it all. I’ve been going down a rabbit hole of learning different editing techniques and all about audience engagement ever since.

Bringing these two passions together, I joined My Life as a Communications Assistant, a role that allows me to combine my love for creating social media content with my commitment to supporting mental health within the criminal justice system.

3 facts about me:

  1. A video I edited has 8.2 million views across Instagram and TikTok.

  2. I was reached out to by a marketing agency to advertise a McDonald’s campaign. (🤯)

  3. I support Ipswich Town FC.
